Biography: Carol Christine Hilaria Pounder (born on 25 December 1952 in Guyana) is a film and television actor. She is usually billed as CCH Pounder, or C.C.H. Pounder early in her career. She has appeared in numerous movies, made-for-television movies, television miniseries, and has made guest appearances on notable TV shows.
Pounder made her film debut in 1979 in the award-winning All That Jazz, starred in the movie Bagdad Café (a role played by Whoopi Goldberg in a short-lived tv sit-com), and has made smaller appearance in many other successful movies.
She has focused primarily on her TV career, however. In the early 1980s, Pounder first appeared in guest roles on Hill Street Blues, and then on several other popular shows (Miami Vice, LA Law, The X-Files) before landing a long-running recurring role on ER from 1994 to 1997. She then returned to guest appearances on other shows, including The Practice and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
As of 2005, she stars as Detective Claudette Wyms in the television show The Shield.
She has also lent her voice to several video games and animated projects, including Aladdin and the King of Thieves, Gargoyles and Justice League.
