MTV Reloads Cannon, Revives 'Unplugged'

LOS ANGELES ( Nick Cannon's improv contest, "Wild 'n Out," has earned a second season from MTV, which is also bringing back its acoustic-music showcase "Unplugged."

"Wild 'n Out," which debuted in late July, features Cannon ("The Underclassman") hosting an "improv battle" between two teams of comics each week. A number of guest stars have also dropped by, among them Kanye West, Method Man, Christina Milian and Orlando Jones.

"I am so happy that MTV has given me an extended opportunity to grow not only as a comedian, but as an executive producer as well," Cannon says. "This show is my baby, and it pleases me to no end to know that it has connected with such a widespread audience."

"Wild 'n Out" is the top-rated cable show in its Thursday time period among MTV's target audience of people ages 12-34. The new season, which will run 10 episodes, is set to debut early next year.

As for "Unplugged," Grammy winner Alicia Keys will inaugurate the show's latest incarnation on Friday, Sept. 23. Users of's broadband service Overdrive, however, will be able to get a look at the show starting Sept. 15. Keys will be joined by guests Mos Def, Common, Damian Marley and Adam Levine of Maroon 5 in her acoustic performance.
