There was no regular star on this variety series, which aired every third Tuesday during the 1955-1956 season on a rotating basis with The Milton Berle Show and The Martha Raye Show. Bob Hope and Dinah Shore - who later had her own Chevy Show series - appeared frequently during the winter season, and Betty Hutton and Ethel Merman each starred in one show apiece. During the summer of 1956 The Chevy Show continued to appear every third week, alternating with assorted specials. Gisele Mackenzie, Fred Waring, and Janet Blair appeared as hosts for the summer edition.
The Chevy Show was resurrected in 1958 as a replacement for The Dinah Shore Chevy Show and lasted for one year. |
